Anger Management

When everything gets too much to handle, I lock myself up, put everything on full blast and drown everything else out. And, for that moment, I am okay.

Kings of Leon – California Waiting
The Blood Brothers – Love Rhymes with Hideous Car Wreck
Taking Back Sunday – A Decade Under the Influence
Snowden – Anti-Anti
Metallica – Enter Sandman
Beastie Boys – Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun
Hadouken! – That Boy That Girl
Hawthorne Heights – Ohio is For Lovers
Electric Six – Danger! High Voltage
Deep Purple – Highway Star
Heatmiser – Still
Audioslave – Cochise
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Teenage Lust
Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS) – Knife (Grizzly Bear cover)
The Walkmen – The Rat
Thee Michelle Gun Elephant – 赤毛のケリー (Redhead Kelly)
The Smashing Pumpkins – 1979
AC/DC – Back in Black
Chris Cornell – You Know My Name
Broken Social Scene – Stars and Sons
Lady GaGa – Poker Face
Black Sabbath – Iron Man
Suicidal Tendencies – Institutionalized
The Album Leaf – Always for You
Arcade Fire – Rebellion (Lies)

Sometimes the only thing you can turn to is music. It may not be the most critically acclaimed of music (lol, Hawthorne Heights? Lady GaGa? Seriously?) but it helps and that’s all that matters, really.

Vintage Flight Uniforms

What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than by looking at vintage airline stewardesses’ uniforms? Thanks to Mong who showed me this site.

Lauren Bacall

Of all of the stars from the 1940s, one of my absolute favourites has to be Lauren Bacall. From her sharp wit (“A woman isn’t complete without a man. But where do you find a man – a real man – these days?”) to her gorgeous features and hair (wish I could carry off a hairstyle like hers), she is elegance and class personified with generous lashings of beauty.

I confess I have not actually seen a single one of her films (but that’s something I’ll definitely rectify in the upcoming months), but the sight of such beauty just takes my decidedly heterosexual breath away. Even some 80 years after she was born she still retains much of her youthful beauty (minus the unflattering open mouth expression). She is truly what one calls ‘one in a million’ She spoils the market for average looking girls like me ):

I was randomly searching for tips when I found this page: How to Cultivate an Emo Attitude. Enjoy the LOLs.

And last but not least here’s to a Merry Christmas 2008 from JH and I, with an awesome Christmas song from the disco-ey ’70s courtesy of Boney M

You’ve got to get on to get off.

IMDB link

These caps are deceiving. The movie is way more sexual than this (haha, the caps here are PG at most) but for the sake for the general public (and the fact that I don’t want some people to know that I do watch these kinds of movies and are open to them), I didn’t post the more risqué ones. More information about the movie can be read here. Basically, it’s arty indie porn, with some plot here and there. I’m not spending too much time talking about the movie itself (it was ok) because the real point of this post is the soundtrack.

Rarely am I ever really impressed by a movie soundtrack, but this one really blew me away. IT IS AWESOME! I don’t care if you watch the movie or anything (I agree, it isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, man, even I didn’t even like it much) but give the soundtrack a try at least. The whole thing has a very laidback feel. It’s made up of a lot of acoustic and folky tracks… Great for a lazy day. I’ve uploaded my favourites. Seriously, if I had the time right now I’d upload EVERYTHING (because everything truly is wonderful… There wasn’t a track I didn’t enjoy), but I don’t, so if you want anything, just let me know!

If anyone wants the full soundtrack, tell me. Trust me, it’s great.

Prom

prom

Hi. I’ve been missing for a long time. Here are my reasons for my absence:
1) Prom preparations
2) Trip to Cambodia
3) Fell sick
4) Trip to Philippines

So anyway in an attempt to pretend I actually have something worthwhile to post about, I shall post the details about where I got my prom stuff (which all happen to be online).

Veil (which sadly can’t really be seen in the above picture) from annabronwyn @ etsy. A similar hairpiece can be found here.

Necklace and earrings were customised for me by intrigued @ etsy. Adeline was extremely helpful and accommodating towards my ideas and requests which was a relief since I ended up rushing to find appropriate jewelry with one week to go to prom.

My dress was from pinupgirlclothing.com, black backseam stockings from American apparel and finally shoes from modcloth.com.

The whole prom experience was really crazy, simply because for some reason I decided to put so much effort into it. I started preparing months in advance (admittedly as a break from studying for the mid year examinations and the like) and hence managed to order everything on time. Still, it’s not an experience I’d like to relive again any time soon (though it was fun shopping and dressing up).

Paris Je t’aime

I was in a melancholic mood today and was re-watching this movie just because, even though I didn’t really like it that much the first time (fell asleep). Enjoyed some parts immensely though, but this one by Tom Tykwer has to be my favourite:

“Time passed. Time raced. And everything seemed so easy.”

Old drawings

These are OLD. Jrock phase ftw~ Kind of embarrassing, but…

I really miss drawing.

Exactitudes

I’m sure tons of people have seen/heard of this project by Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek, but it never fails to interest and astound me every single time I manage to stumble upon their site.

One of my favourites, Bonkerboys – London 2008:

GORGEOUS COATS, YES? Also, Geeks – London 2008!! The first asian boy has cute hair.

Marion Cotillard for Lady Dior

So beautiful. I love her. More videos and such at the Lady Dior site!

Advertising 101

I finished my print ad for my advertising module in school and I’m kind of really proud of it (haha) so I shall post it here. Everything was done with Photoshop and all images (besides the Capri-Sonne one) were taken off Flickr. I’m too lazy right now (it’s 5am, zzzzz) to re-find the people who took the photos but MUCH THANKS to them.

The more I look at it, the more tired of it I get. I see it like every day, every two hours (at the least). It’s OVERKILL, seriously. Advertising is kind of a pain!
