70 Million

70 Million by Hold Your Horses!

My current favourite music video – the song style reminds me of Los Campesinos! Love all the references to famous paintings, plus the video looked really fun to make.

Jenny Hart

As someone who completely fails at any kind of domestic work (I am terrible, not kidding. True story: when I was 8, each person in my class was supposed to sew designs onto this little bag and everyone was given some kind of complicated design to do… My teacher looked at me, smiled wanly and said “ummm maybe you’d better just sew lines”), I was doubly impressed when I came upon Jenny Hart’s awesome art/embroidery.

IMPRESSIVE, RIGHT!?

Eugenio Recuenco

I first encountered Eugenio Recuenco last year when I was bumming around foto_decadent on lj and was blown away. The post is now long gone (what a pity) but his name has always remained in my mind. Finally a few months ago I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he now had his own website with his entire portfolio online (!!!) and have thus now finally gotten around to blogging about it.

As with Desiree Dolron, I’ve always had a soft spot for dramatic and surreal pictures that are borderline macabre. Eugenio Recuenco fits nicely into this category with clever twists on themes like fairy tales (my favourite) and classical paintings (though I don’t know the name of the original). He is definitely my favourite photographer thus far.

Here are a bunch of new photos that have caught my eye today + my 3 previous favourites at the bottom:-

Bonus! Awesome photo that is too big to be hosted on twigs&tweed.

Old drawings

These are OLD. Jrock phase ftw~ Kind of embarrassing, but…

I really miss drawing.

Exactitudes

I’m sure tons of people have seen/heard of this project by Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek, but it never fails to interest and astound me every single time I manage to stumble upon their site.

One of my favourites, Bonkerboys – London 2008:

GORGEOUS COATS, YES? Also, Geeks – London 2008!! The first asian boy has cute hair.

Advertising 101

I finished my print ad for my advertising module in school and I’m kind of really proud of it (haha) so I shall post it here. Everything was done with Photoshop and all images (besides the Capri-Sonne one) were taken off Flickr. I’m too lazy right now (it’s 5am, zzzzz) to re-find the people who took the photos but MUCH THANKS to them.

The more I look at it, the more tired of it I get. I see it like every day, every two hours (at the least). It’s OVERKILL, seriously. Advertising is kind of a pain!
