I don’t know about you guys, but I absolutely fell in love with the flamboyant and androgynous Austin Scarlett when he was in Project Runway Season 1.
His designs were deliciously impractical and out of touch with the common minimalist modern designs of this era. Instead they celebrated the female form. His designs alternated between soft vintage inspired details, to even softer draping. I fell in love. Unfortunately however, he ended up 3rd runner up and didn’t win the show, and like most reality television stars – he faded away from the public eye.
Yesterday however, feeling before after reading about the Bermuda Triangle, I googled his name and was pleasantly surprised to find that he had joined Kenneth Pool – a bridal design line – as chief designer. The bridal designs are both muted yet feminine at the same time, and I especially love how he integrated delicate details into the fabric of the dresses. Vera Wang is in for some stiff competition from the Bridezilla market.
